Safety Inspection and Maintenance Methods for Steel Structures

Routine maintenance of steel structures should focus on structural safety, corrosion protection, and the maintenance of connection components. Specific measures are as follows:

1. Routine Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect components such as supports and purlins for deformation, corrosion, or loosening, with particular attention to the tightness of bolted connections. ‌
The thickness of the roof insulation layer must meet standards to prevent condensation, which can cause prolonged moisture exposure and corrosion of metal components.

2. Corrosion Protection

Promptly repair areas with peeling paint or rust. Prioritize the use of anti-corrosion paint or spray coatings for protection, ensuring the metal surface is clean and dry.
Maintenance of Special Components
Supports and sliding ball joints: Regularly lubricate moving parts (such as sliding ball joints) using molybdenum disulfide grease to reduce the coefficient of friction and maintain smooth rotation. ‌
Check that drainage around the bearings is unobstructed to prevent corrosion caused by standing water. ‌

3.‌ Screw Connections

Screw holes are prone to forming “thermal bridges”; regularly clean out standing water and dirt to prevent prolonged moisture from accelerating corrosion. ‌
Recommended Maintenance Schedule
‌Quarterly Inspection: Check surface coatings, fastener tightness, and signs of rust.
‌Annual Inspection‌: Comprehensive inspection of structural foundations, welds, bolts, etc. ‌
Note: Specific maintenance intervals should be adjusted based on the degree of environmental corrosion; inspection intervals should be shortened in humid or windy areas.
