Completion of steel structure sliding of roof cover of Chongqing East Railway Station Interchange Center

With the sliding in place of the space pipe truss structure of the fifth unit of the new Chongqing East Railway Station Station Building and Supporting Comprehensive Transportation Hub Project, it marks the end of the sliding construction of the steel structure of the roof cover, and lays the foundation for the full-scale construction of the roof of the station building and the comprehensive transportation center.

The roof steel structure system of Chongqing East Railway Station adopts the form of “tube truss steel structure + elliptical skylight + tree-shaped supporting columns”, fully extracting the regional elements and cultural characteristics of Chongqing. The building shape takes “Thousand Miles of Landscape, Yellow Jade in the Sky” as the conceptualization intention, adopts the brushwork of Chinese landscape painting, and shows the tough and upright posture of Chongqing’s municipal tree, Yellow Jade, through six strong and powerful tree-shaped columns on the front side.

At the same time, the curve of the roof band is also the expression of Chongqing’s water features implying that the hub connects thousands of miles of mountains and water in a broad and accessible way.

The sliding area roof leaf-type light skylight is decorated with aluminum slats in the color of Huangjuet wood, which intertwines with each other to present the color of Chongqing mountain city.

As a domestic ultra-high slip case, Chongqing East Station roof slip area steel structure north-south length of 236 meters, east-west width of 116 meters, the maximum height of 57 meters from the floor.

In order to complete the domestic ultra-high slip sub-projects with high quality and high standard, the project team divided the slip area into 5 slip units single slip unit pipe truss structure, using 320t, 150t, 135t crawler crane transported to the high-altitude assembly platform. After assembling it into a slip unit, through five 110-meter-long long slide rail and four 48-meter-long short slide rail slip forward 18 meters to continue to assemble the second slip unit, and the first slip unit together with the forward slip, until the five slip unit all slip to the end of the design position slip.

Next, the steel structure of the roof of Chongqing East Railway Station will enter the in-situ lifting stage, and the tree columns and skylight trusses will be lifted in this stage.

The completion of the lifting marks the completion of all the construction of the roof steel structure of Chongqing East Railway Station.

It is reported that Chongqing East Railway Station, as the largest comprehensive transportation hub under construction in the country, has a total floor area of 1,222,800 square meters and a total scale of 15 stations and 29 lines. Upon completion, it will boost the double-cycle development strategy of the southwest region and create a new growth pole of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and “One Belt, One Road”.
