The largest stadium building in the south of Hebei region makes an exciting debut in Handan Sports Center with a total construction area of 81,700 square meters, which can accommodate about 30,000 spectators. As the main venue of the 16th Hebei Provincial Games, the building will undertake the opening ceremony, track and field, rugby, archery and other major events and activities. After the provincial games, it can host domestic sports events and be used as a place for national fitness, which is of great significance in promoting the coordinated development of competitive sports, mass sports and sports industry in Ji’nan.

The Handan Sports Center reflects the rich historical heritage of Handan, the “Hometown of Taiji”, with “Taiji” cultural elements, and perfectly integrates oriental elegance with modern architecture. The light-transmitting areas of the building canopy are intertwined and surrounded, presenting a double helix style symbolizing the law of Taiji in which yin and yang circulate in the universe and the cycle begins again and again.

The project is a steel structure assembly stadium, with complex heteromorphic structure of the main body of the building and a large amount of on-site assembly of the steel structure. During the construction, it innovatively adopted the construction technology of synchronous unloading at equal intervals, and dismantled the trusses at equal intervals by removing three and leaving one, and dismantled the trusses along with the progress of the construction, so as to ensure that the following components could be interspersed in advance. The interspersed construction of 5,300 tons of steel trusses and 4,713 grandstand panels was completed within 4 months, which set a new “new speed” for construction and installation.

Adoption of outwardly inclined V-column unsupported installation technology saves more than 800 tons of measure materials and improves the green construction level of large arena buildings.
